The outpouring of patriotism is wonderful. American flags hang on every overpass

It truly is. Yesterday, here in Vancouver BC, I was driving along the freeway and noted a construction crane extended high in the air along side the freeway with an American flag perched atop, at half mast. We are moved, and as one columnist in the Globe and Mail said a few days ago, 'We are all American today'.

People across the civilized world are responding. I was very moved by the pictures found here - home.earthlink.net - from all over the world.

The response is so all encompassing partly due to Patriotism and partly, I think, because we all realize that our way of life is threatened.

I think the phrase "Lest we forget" has and will take on new and very personal meanings for all of us, from all generations.

Most Americans are standing together, showing great courage yet bearing a great sorrow, feeling a great loss but having great resolve.
