If you can explain to me how selling does not cause the market to go down, I'd like to hear it. Shorting may build in the potential energy for it to come back after it's gone down, but I don't think you can make a case that a sell, short or otherwise, does not cause it to go down. You may also be able to make a case that it's better that it goes down first on Monday only to come roaring back, but the roaring back is iffy and a chance I don't think we can afford to take if we don't have to.
