Well, this thread is a pretty safe haven, anyway. The guys will spew what the guys will spew. Having made it past the worst days without anything dumb being done, I'm gaining confidence , or at least hope, that once the military takes control, something better than mindless revenge will happen. It's going to be a tough job. But, in spite of all the derision, the US military has shown itself capable of nation building as well as nation destruction; it may be the only institution in the world capable of doing that. There's not much left to destroy in Afghanistan, by most accounts, building something better is possible.
