E, Joan of Arc was religious. Those that burned her at the stake, were not. They were politicians that felt the need to eliminate her for political gain.

Joan of Arc. Was she not religious?

Yes, and hated and feared by other "religious" folks, which makes religious a very subjective adjective. In her case, history judged her more kindly than her detractors. Mark Train declared her easily "the most extraordinary person the human race has ever produced."
