They think they are doing good. That's what you don't understand. They think the 'infidels' must be destroyed in the name of Allah. They would think you most odd to call them atheists. (Is that what you call them?). They think it's a holy war. There have been many holy wars, but after the fact, those who feel awkward about them are free to say they were all actually engaged in by atheists. Was Joan of Arc religious in your view? Were the Crusaders Christians? Who is buried in Grant's tomb? Forget the last one, it's a joke.
