Sam, you are exactly right. People need to find their own ways with minimal interference. I am a staunch supporter of the Star Trek's "Prime Directive", i.e. lack of interference in internal affairs.

Even in little issues like how to dress and what to eat, we don't like to be told (e.g. dress code in many offices is disliked by the staff). How can we expect to convert a nation en masse and get away with it?

I never implied that we should "impose" our standard of living or our way of life on any country, and fond of saying that true democracy may be too expensive for many nations at this point in time, but I expect a gradual reduction in the chasm by natural forces. look at India, it s becoming a power house in software. For that matter look at Singapore, it used to be an extremely poor country with no prospects, yet it has managed to find its own way to flourish.
