It is not hoarding, I have freed up store shelf space for more stock to be put in place. Hoarding would occur in time of panic, not in time of peace.

Think about that, I am simply using my garage as a storeroom, as should every American be doing the same in time of war.

Not to mention by spending and consuming I am helping the economy and doing my part. What are you doing.

All the best

West

Hi DJ - Where does hoarding fit?

Maybe instead of buying shares folks should go out and hoard a Qualcomm powered Nokia tri-band cell phone and a battery powered laptop from Dell, plus a Cisco router per neighborhood. Link it all with Corning glass lit with JDSU bits, magiced together by Nortel and we may have a survivable economy.

Or at least some way to post to each other while we eat beans by the dim light of candles...

John.

P.S. This bit of levity not at all intended to detract from west's good idea of stocking up.

Hi DJ, What westpacific is suggesting is similar to shorting a put, or going long on commodities. Chugs, Jay

DJ, I think West's post is about investments. The question is what would be the next escalation step after the US and its allies pound Afghanistan? Tony Blair and other pretty smart people acknowledged that it may very well be nuclear, chemical or biological attacks on US or European cities. What would you do if one of the hundreds of missing Soviet nukes blows up Munich? I think after Sept 11 the probability of that happening is non-negligible, and if it does happen, West's hoard would turn out to be an excellent investment.

Kyros

PS 1. I realize that Munich is pretty down the list of possible terrorist nuclear targets. US cities are at the top though and West lives in the US.

PS 2. I don't think most of us have realized what all-out war means this time around. WW I or WW II were walks in the park, at least for the US, compared to what is in store now. I think our leaders should come out and tell us that if we proceed down the road we are proceeding, there is a good probability that weapons of mass destruction will be used on US cities with hundreds of thousands of deaths per incident.

I dunno DJ, I go with West on this one.
Besides I can always use the stuff for camping. Time to make like a boyscout so you do not burden others ?
