Re: It specifically talks about how AMD is having a hard time finding other resources to get its chips shipped to and from

Considering that AMD could fit an entire quarter's production on a single plane, I expect they'll be able to cope.

An interesting consideration is that the Dell "never more than 3 days inventory" model may be in big trouble, while the HP/Compaq model of managing and maintaining a fair amount of inventory may be the only practical one going forward. I think that shipping will be possible, but that schedules will be much less consistent and predictable. I was told by our transport people Friday that they've already started receiving a fair amount of (but less than usual) freight from Fedex, Airborne, etc.

Re: Good luck to everyone on Monday morning.

I expect that Greenspan will do whatever is necessary, including full percent plus rate cuts, to keep the markets from a meltdown. If rate cuts don't do it, Fannie Mae can be directed (and subsidized) to buy mortgages at 5.5 or 6%. Some of the liquidity resulting from refinancing etc. injected into the economy would certainly buoy up the markets. While it might take a few weeks for Fannie Mae actions to impact the economy, knowledge that it was going to happen would affect the markets instantly.
