The mtDir variable is Dunnigan's maintrend direction which is often different than current dir.

mtL maintrend L = lowest L (or larger range replacement) since last reversalSell. if B<mtL then mtL=B.
mtH maintrend H= highest H (or larger range replacement) since last reversalBuy. if T>mtH then mtH=T.

Reversal requires strong evidence that maintrend has changed. This makes reversal difficult and repeat easy.
When reversal verified and riding new maintrend with profits relax rule making it easy to trade new mtDir. Rules for reversal are more stringent than the rules for continuation.
