Short interest is very high and negativity toward shorts, for whatever reason, is something to take note of in this market. One does not have to agree with it. One can pooh - pooh it. But it is staring folks right in the face. Maybe patriotism can be like a mania for a spell. More importantly, the government is backing this attitude. Unlike prior panics, they have had time to prepare for this potential one come Monday. SEC is in action. O'Neil is ringing the opening bell. This terrorist nut is reportedly short. Greenspan has had time to coordinate anything he wants to do. So one must respect it. Greenspan has created short covering rallies in the past -- notably in April -- and can do so again under the right circumstances.
