Our european "allies" soft-pedaling and beginning to qualify their support for u.s. Those frenchies never fail to amaze me:

foxnews.com

Jospin added in his comments to his Cabinet that French "human, political and functional solidarity (with the United States) does not deprive us of our free appreciation of our sovereignty."

yep. maybe we should have made a statement like that in ww2.

As I said before, when are we going to learn that the only friends we have are the brits and israel?

The US taxpayer is already funding the rebuilding -- it is fiscal stimulus ala Keynes. Hasn't worked for Japan. It won't work for us -- however noble the cause may be.

Desert Storm came after we were already in a cyclical downturn. We may have in fact already turned the corner there.

We were not coming off a huge debt and stock market bubble -- the two situations are completely different.
