All, This morning I offered the following suggestion to Intel's Investor Relations Dept. However, I need your help, and Technology Investors in general's help, to further promulgate the idea. The Telecom and Technology Industries need a "Killer Application". An application that rekindles demand for technology. For many reasons, the urgency to find such killer ap is IMMEDIATE, if we are to turn this Global economy around. The killer application which I suggest; is to reduce crime and the threat of terorist attacks.... Said Technology application should allow citizens in the United States, and people throughout the World, to travel and move about with the sense of security that we had prior to September 11. Some of the technology needed for this application solution is already available, but it needs Telecom and Technology Industry leaders, and Government leaders, to centrally coordinate their efforts and to develop standards so as not to waste resources. It needs Industry leaders, such as Intel, Cisco, Microsoft, IBM, Dell, etc. to get together and put their companies and this economy back to work doing what we do best, finding and selling technology solutions. I can think of many improvements that PCs can contribute to now that would improve physical security. But rather than list them I am sure there are others here who are more technically qualified than I. Such a program, I believe, should be stimulated by the Government giving Research and Investment tax incentives. These incentives should provide technology companies with the motivation to develop such solutions very quickly. Further, the tax incentives could be funded, (if the government chooses), by allowing tax payers to participate in its eventual success, (similar to War Bonds, but instead War Equities), by contributing with part of their social security payments. This of course would integrate what President Bush has already previously envisioned and suggested. I believe that such a program would; ---Help Technology workers, and Citizens in general to once again feel potent. That we are not "helpless", but indeed we have the power to fight back. ---It would be a patriotic action that would allow both Private Industry and the Government to mutually work togetter for the common good. ---It makes business sense because given the events of September 11, there is now Worldwide demand for such products and solutions. ---It would instantly turn around the steadily eroding stock market, especially the technology stocks, as investors rush into the market to participate. If you believe there is something of merit here, I ask you to help me promulgate the idea. Repost this on other BBs. If you have suggestions for possible Applications, please post them here.
