We can deal with some of the unpopularity later

I was not talking about popularity. Popularity has nothing to do with this picture.

Terrorists feed on war. They grow fat on it. They need it. The purpose of this sort of attack is to provoke indiscriminate retaliation. Our task is to retaliate without falling into the trap of giving the terrorists what they want. Our retaliation has to be very discriminating indeed.

How many other terrorist do you know that have access to 100's of million's of dollars ? Not many I'll wager...

Do you honestly believe that a man like bin Laden has not devised a system by which his money and that of his financiers can flow to his trusted lieutenants if he is killed? The man isn't stupid. Tracking his money and the money that flows to him, and shutting down the financing systems, is a job every bit as important as finding and eliminating bin Laden himself. Maybe even more so: if bin Laden goes down, there will be other terrorists. If the cash is cut off, even if there are other terrorists, they will be unable to operate.
