The following posts are the ones I alluded to:

The only one of those posts that speaks to the effects of shorting on Monday is the one by Mike. He says "Sellers cause price to go down if there is no buyer" which was, of course, my point.

I know how the market works and have no reason to believe that shorting is unhealthy for the market.

I have no reason to believe that either and I said so in my first post on this subject.

It is certainly not unpatriotic and I resent the characterization that it may be.

I don't think there's anything unpatriotic about how you make your living and I didn't say or suggest any such thing.

The point I made from the start of this discussion was that I would not sell on Monday because I would feel unpatriotic. That assumes a couple of things: 1) that a surfeit of sellers would cause the market to drop and 2) that a drop in the market would please the enemy. I invited you to tell me why either one of them was false.

You came back with a statement that selling doesn't cause a drop in prices. That's like saying that heavy rains don't cause streams to rise. That selling causes prices to fall is so obvious I can't imagine finding any outside source for it. All I have is Mike's post as support.

I'm sure you're angry at the crap you've apparently been getting about this, but you're not getting any crap from me although you seem to be reading some into what I've said.

If you want to go back and look at what I've actually said, you can start here

<<OTOH, I have a real problem with any form of suboptimization--enhancing one's own position at the expense of the community. In wartime, that means selling state secrets, profiteering, watering down supplies to the military, hoarding jet fuel, and the like. In that context, I would not be able to short the market on Monday and look myself in the mirror. A crashing market gives aid and comfort to the enemy.>>
