Or the owners and trainers short them... Yeah, I hate taking the bus home. It makes me feel that people are laughing at me. Anyway, ion a 10 horse field at least one of them will come in second. The ones that were shorted will have to come in somewhere else. The odds will reflect the inside money---it always does. The bettors are doing a type of shorting when they bet that several horses will not win, place, or show. It seems cruel but those that cponnect on the long odds get to be fairly good looking for a day pr two.
