Actually, there's a lot of good that has come out of the Arab world. Advances in mathematics, astronomy, and art. But lately some of the Arabs have gone off on a bad track.

The Saudi royals have helped stabilize OPEC to benefit world economies. One prince stepped in with massive buy orders to stop NASDAQ's freefall in 4/2000. There are other contributions, too numerous to mention, in many fields, from Arab nations.

On the other hand, I've seen little evidence of great creativity from extremist factions. They borrow and use what others have built, but their aim is to destroy, not grow.

In their lessons on jihad, they tell the young (paraphrased): "What is death? You will die eventually anyway. Isn't it better to die with high honor and heavenly rewards?"

(Somewhat akin to what western military recruiters lie about, with more virgins)
