The Saudis are a dilemma because the royalty does not enjoy majority popular support. The royalty gains valuable military stuff (AWACs for starters) by playing nice-nice with the Seven Sisters (6 now?)

But too heavy Islamic nation pressure can make them bend the other way. My best guess says they privately aid the US considerably, playing it low key so as not to bring the war to them. It is in the best interests of the royals to see extremist cells shattered.

On the other hand, a scenario not yet broadly discussed is that, like Hitler, the cells lose by fighting on too many fronts at once if they must do battle in too many Islamic states at once while launching attacks on US soil.... and the soil of how many other Euro/Asian/Australian/etc allies?

If it suits the Saudis.... true... but I do not see the extremists having enough SIMULTANEOUS strength to tailor such a suit.
