hdl-Exactly and Pres. Bush, Sr. and Colin Powell left a weakened Saddam in power to counterbalance the Iranian fundamentalists. Look how many repressive oppressive dictatorships this country has propped up in the past. That's what I am getting at when I say the perverted means leads to perverted ends. Why else do you think much of the world distrusts and even hates us, albeit a love-hate, imo? Why should an American boy risk his life to fight a truly evil man like Saddam only to have to fight him again 10 years later? Our foreign policy is so full of twists and turns we don't even know who we are fighting and why half the time. That's why the people are fed emotional stuff to stir them into cooperation and the mood to fight. How often in the last half of the 20th century has there been a clear definable convincing explanation for the American public that stood the test of history? JMHO.
