The Japanese aggressions in WW Two were not motivated by their poverty. Nor were the Roman aggressions in the ancient world. Germans on the brink of WW Two were quite well-fed: otherwise they couldn't have conquered 90% of Europe. They had tremendous resources. Our fatal error may be to believe that all people have the same beliefs and motivators we do. That is American arrogance, of a sort.
