I thought the definition of our new enemy was interesting. Hello, My fellow Americans. On Sept. 11 2001 our nation forever lost what innocence it had. This horrid event was not the first to shock us, but it was certainly of greater magnitude. The entire world has been subjected to this terror for years. But it took a massive attack from our enemy; killing Man, Women and Child to somewhat awaken us. I use here the term “somewhat” because I don't think that we have truly grasped what the situation is. What our nation doesn’t seem to comprehend is that our enemy has been amassing for decades on our shores. An example of this would be that one of the terrorist pilots lived here with his wife and children for years until his orders came. We would be fooling ourselves if we thought that there were not thousands more operatives laying in wait. And it is when you fool yourself that you are truly a fool. If we where to compare our country to a military camp, an Intelligence Analyst would say that we have already been overran. The military phrase: "The enemy is in the wire" certainly would apply here. You see, Osama Bin Laden doesn't even have to issue another order. The "Sleepers" as they are called may already have there marching orders laid out on a timetable. Other orders maybe triggered by certain events. One might assume that the next wave of attacks could be biological, chemical or even might involve several of the many Russian nuclear devises that remain unaccounted for. In every city across our land there are thousands of self-storage units, any of which could house vans that are preloaded with Timothy Mc Veigh grade bombs just waiting for the next massive wave attack. Imagine a day in the near future when untold numbers of elementary schools in every city are simultaneously attacked by these monsters. What every you do, don’t make that mistake of being lulled into thinking that this could not happen. As a young Marine it was not so gently impressed upon me, the importance of perimeter security. Volumes have been written on the subject. From the depth, width and length of our fighting hole, the intervals at which they are spaced, clear fields of fire and avenues of approach. Even the lowest ranking Troop is expert in this, as it is so fundamentally basic to a fighting man. We lived in the freest society on earth. One of the things that have guaranteed this is the bill of rights. You may not know that our founding fathers would not sign the Constitution until it was amended to include these so sacred protections of freedom. I will tell you now friends that I fervently support and defend our constitution and believe most importantly that is the second amendment that guarantees the existence if the rest. However it is in special times like these that I think it is the first amendment that will most certainly help our enemy if not to even insure his victory. I ask you this,” Will we remain so politically correct that we will not expel all potential operatives?” We are not at war with any particular Country or government but we are at war with certain ideology. As long as these ideals are alive on our soil, we will never again enjoy the freedom that we once had. One of the greatest men in our history was Thomas Jefferson and it was he who said: “The tree of liberty, from time to time, must be replenished with the blood of patriots”. If we do not act decisively and swiftly this war could become a Crusade, and that would be horrific. Semper Fi, Greg West PS. I was reminded by my WWII veteran 82 year old father, that when war was declared in WWII, ALL peoples of enemy nationality where ordered to leave. Maybe we are not at war with any certain 'people' this time. But are at war with an 'ideology'. Or what's the difference? Roger
