We agree: Pakistan not only wants us there, they want us to do in their nation what they don't have the stomach to do either: out and eradicate the enemy within. Their dawdling only gave us more time to practice, take weapons out of mothballs, and line up more ducks. If they think we're going to only "fly over them" they are sadly mistaken.

Surgical air strikes can only do so much.

Who are the munitions makers for straffing aircraft, and military hand-combat weapons, and the handheld missle launching makers and munitions, stateside as well as globally? Is there a "Big 3?" A "Top 10?" or whatever?

Loral is still the cruise missile maker of choice, I take it.

Watch for American money fund managers to put together at least a 1/2 doz mutual funds this week for launching in what 6wks(?) so that Americans can put their dough to work in "patriotic" funds.

Perhaps someone could create a patriotic public SI portfolio from the cast of characters we noodle out here on SI,
so that we could track these outfits personally.

You got any ideas?

<<Assist us or be obliterated>> - sheer rubbish and I expect you know it - have you read that they have demanded billions in aid ($300 billion?) and help to solve the boundary dispute with India over Kasmere. 'Rag' hardly fits the Independant or Guardian, 'appeasement'is a convenient label for an opinion which doesn't fit your own. I don't know your nationality so I won't enquire whether your country favoured appeasemnt at the time of Munich - but I would guess that that is a stone that had better be left unturned? One country was overwhelmingly isolationist and therefore appeasing. It's conveniently forgotten that in Britain appeasment had overwhelming support - Churchill had few allies - but at least in Britain the debate had real meaning as they were in the front line. With 20/20 vision everyone is against appeasement but Churchill was one of the very few who was actually against it during the German re-armament.

I'm wondering about the following scenario - what happens if Afghan hands over Bin Laden within 3 days - who will the US attack then? All of this energy and expectation surely has to be satisfied?

Pakistan being controlled by an Islamic faction which as i have read are systematically destroying the country, at least by NA measures. Only another group of people to despise the evil USA and to teach their young ones to devote their lives to the destruction of this evil empire. More suicide bombers in the making..........

Hello Stephen O......." Ask yourself why Pakistan is cooperating so quickly? They have received, shall we say,a rather strong message from the US. Assist us or be obliterated.".......
What I seen reported on CNN was they would co-operate only if the USA gave them money to boost their economy and cancelled debt owing. So if this happens then it looks like they win a bit more ?? This would not happen without
terroist actions.
