Second of all, the anti-gun crowd (who, in large part, cost Gore the vote in Tennessee and Arkansas) will be weaker, as Americans feel the need to own guns as some protection against any personal terror that might occur.

In support of my hobby as a competition target shooter, I often visit gun shows. I dropped by the monthly Austin gun show Saturday. The parking was more packed than I have ever seen it (including Y2K). The building was stuffed with people. Anecdotally, several dealers had already sold out of the most popular models - shotguns were a particular favorite.

At least two of the local well-known gunshops had their shotgun inventory *gone* by Thursday. Wal-Mart's ammo counter was mobbed Saturday.

Insecurity and determination combined to get a bunch of folks to reevaluate their responsibilities for their personal safety.
