Precisely. That's what I was saying about placebos. This was not apologist, IMO. You'd better understand what your enemy wants and what motivates them. You use this in your defense, and not as a means to explain away their acts. Simple concept that is apparently difficult to grasp.

Understanding a
problem does not mitigate the blame of those who are part of the problem
(imo). Many people on SI seem to think this. It does not seem logical to me.

There is, IMO, a difference between trying to understand and trying to justify. That's a line I think some of the writing has crossed.
