If you've had your computer for 2 to 5 years it's possible your battery is going out on you. Here's a couple of articles.

Sounds like your battery needs replacing. If you know for sure it happens overnight, perhaps you can set your clock automatically every morning using this arachnoid.com

I have it running in the task bar and updates my clock over the internet every 12 hours. I've used it with Win98 and now with Win2k. Works great!

My clock on the task bar has always been 10 minutes fast since I bought the computer. I have tried to change it many times, but at this point, what's the use. I just live with it!
