joe-- another thread can be devoted to Nam. Nixon and the media lost Nam. Johnson insisted on running the war instead of allowing the Generals to win. Each time we were close to victory Johnson pulled back. Kissenger sat with no balls or brains while giving NVN everything they asked for, virtually signing the death warrants of many POWs. When the list of those to be released the Admiral overseeing the withdrawl stopped and was going back in until Nixon.... there is much few have taken the time to learn. You are correct-- we lost few battles in Nam. After learning the methods of the enemy defense of all but ambushes became more successful. Remember, our troops could only chase to certain boundries and had to allow the enemy to get away. Also, they were free to bomb anywhere in the theater but we rarely hit Hanoi-- only a few bombs when poloiticians decided it was OK and not Haiphong either,,,
When it was required to go into Grenada the media was flying behind our troops. They only turned back when told (not threatened) they would be shot down. The media looks for blood and guts in wars, Since they do not have the balls to get into the real action the only see the blood of our troops.
The difference now is it is innocent American civilians that were killed. IMO in 30 days the complacent US citizens will show their lack of fortitude. Some here already show their weakness, arrogance and stupidty. Sadly we cannot send them to Afganistan....

Jack- It's amazing how some people keep trying to instill fear by constantly building up our enemy's fighting capabilities and avoiding recognizing ours.

It`s because they are weak. The founding fathers are ashamed of them.

How soon they forget Desert Storm. Iraq soldiers surrendering in mass rather than fight.

They think we learned no lessons from how the Vietnam war was fought. Desert Storm was proof that we did.
