It's a little bit more complex than that. The Taliban belongs to the Pushtun majority (about 50%)in Afghanistan. The Northern Alliance consists of the Tajik, Uzbek and Farsi (Iranian) minorities. The Taliban govt is recognized by only 3 countries (all Sunni): Pakistan; Saudi Arabia and UAE. The Taliban has been described by the Iranian Fundamentalist govt as "the most dangerous movement on earth". They SHOULD know. Iranians are Shi'ites It's a Pandora's box.
