I needed to put that emoticon in place for you:

To wit: Clausewitz remains unreadable. <w>

I'm fully aware of the use of his book and thoughts in our military academies, in fact I was just reviewing some class materials presented to suggest that the freshman faced with Clausewitz should realize it isn't a practicum, a how-to manual or a guide. It is a method of thinking that is being taught.

I was less familiar with use of Clausewitz among biz schuls. There it seems his arcane views of the world would be largely a distraction, where more nut & bolts assessments of cash flow, work flow and the marvels of marketing would take precedence over his highly theoretical ramblings. FWIW, my pal in management at Bank of America tells me that the latest fad in reading there was "Who Moved My Cheese?", I'll have to ask her about Clausewitz. Somehow I doubt he's graced her coffee table. :)
