Alan, I don't think when there was war in heaven that Michael the Archangel approached Lucifer with words of peace and I'm certain he didn't bless him as he forcefully thrust him out for good.

I personally believe nations are blameless when they hunt down and avenge themselves on their adversaries. I don't know, it's just how the Old Testament seems to read and we know that God never changes.

I heard the Catholic theologians at St. Patrick's today say that there is a duty under Christian doctrine to protect innocent lives, which may (regretfully) involve taking military action.
