Osama sounds like a Cassius. Lean, hungry, ambitious. This is a capable man who plans big and well and long term. He is used to succeeding where others failed. It is also obvious that the Afghanis protect him and probably some Saudis too.

I think he has his eye on Saudi Arabia and thinks he can win it. He is short on resources and time. He may have much grassroots suppoort but he will need nore than that. He was anti Iraqui. But does he have much choice today? Afghanistan cannot afford to protect him. The .lifeline of weapons wouold not be there against the US.

Those who think that the Afghans are a religious paradise of holy purity shouild be reminded that it was a long a source of drugs such as hasish and opium. Today it is a major source of income for the country and for bin Laden. Those Americans who would be roused to fight the forces of tyranny that seek to harass and cow them should think of that when they turn to such pursuits. Cut off the money supply to the trade and you lessen his ability to organize terror. Think of kicking such habits. At least grrow your own.
