Tony, <Is Giuliani the mayor that's given most of the credit for improving it so much, cleaning it up and all? I think so, but thought I'd ask a local.>

One of my best friends lives in Queens and works in Manhattan, and he is most impressed by Rudy, just like I am.

Of course, we're both conservative kind-of-guys, so we may be biased ...

Tony,

I am not sure what can be done at this stage as far as the mayoral race is concerned. From my perspective, New Yorkers seemed to have a love/hate relationship with him, at least before the recent atrocities.

On the one hand, he has done wonders for the City in terms of improving its quality of life, yet many (especially those in the arts and letters) are turned off by his seeming heavy-handedness in a number of issues.

Rudy is like a stern, protective father - the "kids" don't always appreciate him, however.

Tony & All,

RE:<Could it be that Giuliani could be elected for another term, extenuating circumstances-like, to see New York City through the rebuilding?>

What a tragic week this was with lots of tears.

Let us hope that sanity will come upon us, and that all the talk about rebuilding will cease. Did we fail to learn anything? If tall buildings are built it's dam silly to pack them together like match sticks!

A memorial park makes more sense. Place a couple of tall skyscrapers in Keokok, Iowa and build them solid enough to withstand fire. ( Use lots of pipes filled with water). I was totally shocked by the flimsy construction of these buildings. There was no need for them to fall down...humble carl
