The moderates in Iran, are very much for normalizing ties with the west. Khatami has visited all European countries and normalized political and financial relations. Even Great Britain has normalized government contact with Iran including an embassy in Tehran. US is the sole remaining country.

The ignorant masses in this country are completely unaware of the moderation that has occurred in Iran over the past decade. The U.S. government has taken great pains to pretend this moderation doesn't exist, even as the rest of the world embraces it. It is no coincidence that the U.S. media has ignored the Iranian moderation in lockstep with the American government's blind eye, since the media usually takes its cues from Washington.

But what you mention is some practical decisions that the Iranian leaders are making. Don't most Iranians hate America and Americans?

Don't you think any serious anti-terrorist campaign is going to have to notice Iran's sponsorship of Hizbollah? I mean, we're talking big bucks here.
