Is it really that they don't like the proliferation of unislamic things, or is that the excuse and what they really don't like is our incursion in middle eastern affairs? Were we to pull out of the middle east completely, including ending our support of Israel, do you think that the Muslim terrorists would back off? I think some might but others would be encouraged by the thought that if they can kill enough Americans they can change US policy. Tim

My guess is that kids in slums of Bagdad and Kabul are most concerned about getting something to eat and staying alive. And those kids have no exposure to anything other than what they are thought in school. Likely little kids in Bagdad hate United States, but they may not know anything about Bin Ladden. Not sure. Muhammad (Islam profit) was born in Medina but was forced to travel to Mecca where he built the house of worship for all Moslems. I think he is devil of all devils. What he is doing is against all teaching of Islam. Even worse, he is turning people misfortune and misery into hatred and unending cycle of violence. It does not get much lower than that. Based on my experience, I can excuse (well not really) Palestinians cheering in refugee camp, but what Bin Ladden is doing is pure evil.

The fact that civilians were killed I think means little to the military mindset although they sometimes profess concern. This absolutely can't be attributed to the "military mindset" (the United States and other Western militaries have shown themselves to be exceptionally attentive, even focused, on avoiding civilian casualties); it is part of the strategy. The military expects to take casualties and is thus trained to deal with the psychology of "terror". Civilians are heavily influenced by it. Were we to pull out of the middle east completely, including ending our support of Israel, do you think that the Muslim terrorists would back off? They would have overrun us and won. This certainly could never happen. If anything, this act has given many of us a deeper understanding of Israel's plight. Israel has been crying out for years from these kinds of attacks, and only now can we really comprehend what they've been going through.
