Analog Devices Cuts Capital Spending Plan For This FY

WASHINGTON -- Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) again lowered its capital expenditure budget for the current fiscal year ending Oct. 28.

In its quarterly report filed Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Analog Devices said it now expects capital expenditures to total $325 million for the entire fiscal year, down from the $355 million estimate offered in its previous quarterly filing.

In January, Analog Devices said it expected capital expenditures for the current year to total $450 million.

Last month, Analog Devices said it expects fourth-quarter operating earnings of 12 cents to 14 cents a share, compared with analysts' estimates of 13 cents a share and year-ago earnings of 54 cents a share.

At the time, the company said it continued to "aggressively" manage expenses, including eliminating bonuses, reducing pay for the highest-paid 25% of employees and cutting discretionary costs.

Analog Devices makes linear, mixed signal and digital integrated circuits.
