Good posts. I'll take issue with one remark: Foreign countries were shaken up with the news - they want to know that the USA cannot be overtaken by terrorists because our ability to protect ourselves represents a level of their own safety. What we aren't safe from, they aren't safe from.

I think the foreign markets are more concerned with the US response, and the consequences, than they are with future terrorist activity.

Actually the "why" is very well known...but apparently not to that many Americans. They are at least getting a partial education now...
Whether we change the "why" and when we do it will be determined later. Right now we are on the offense.

At this point anything less than taking out terrorist strongholds, biological and chemical weapon manufacturing capabilities... would be a sign of weakness and no comittment.
Look for repeated strikes on mutliple locations and countries. After that, look for some adjustments in US foreign policy big time and an extreme tightening of borders...
