07:25 ET Stock Buybacks : A host of companies announcing plans to repurchase shares of their common stock as a show of support for US equity markets and the long-term outlook of the individual companies. Of course, the timing of such purchases are usually unknown, but likely to see many buying stock right off the open (see 6:35 comment) in an attempt to stabilize their stock prices. Among the companies announcing buybacks are FBF ($4 bln), CSCO ($3 bln), FDC ($700 mln), SEBL ($500 mln), IVGN ($150 mln), BEAS ($100 mln), SBUX ($60 mln), SANM (5% of outstanding shares), SGR ($100 mln).
