I said nothing about profit or dollars, I spoke of advances for humanity. How many advances in medical science have been given to humanity by the middle eastern countries? How many advances in any science or even contributions in the arts? How many advances in technology?

What have they given the world in the last 50 years which has improved the state of human life?

Based on the past 200 years most advances in technology which improved life style & life span(for the entire world) have come from the western world. Thus the American child has more value to the whole of humanity & not only value measured in dollars or direct profits.

You missed the point.

I disagree, Paul. All in life has a time and dollar value. As well it seems that including truth, honour, decency, -- all can be bought. You may put a high price on it, but at a certain point it meets its valuation beyond which it's preservation cannot exceed a certain expense. Otherwise they could not write insurance. Certain people's lives you would not value beyond a plugged nickel. Others you would labour for years to protect. But since all human activity is measure against time and the dollar, its intrinsic value itself all can be weighed the same.

When they build the Empire State Building and Boulder Dam they valued a human life for insurance purposes at one millions dollars. Today that would be 20 million.

You must put a price on human life. You must decide what that is and be prepared to pay that price to protect it. It has to practically equate to time and effort and hence to dollars. All our lives are worth all the dollars on the planet, or conversely all the dollars are worth all our lives. You are free to put a higher price on what is yours, but be prepared to be disappointed in your own ability to meet that price.
