From CBS MarketWatch:

>>Bruker Daltonics (BDAL: news, chart, profile) disclosed it has received a contract from the Defense Department for ion trap mass spectrometers for chemical and biological defense. The Billerica, Mass., firm said the value of the total contract exceeds $10 million, and that the revenue will be spread over five quarters from the second quarter of 2002 to the second quarter of 2003. Bruker noted that the contract was initiated prior to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. "We believe that this significant order further validates our strategy of deploying integrated systems based on mass spectrometry for both life-science research and drug discovery, as well as for chemical and biological detection in security, defense and anti-terrorism applications," said Frank Laukien, the company's president and CEO, in a press release. "While we are not raising our revenue and EPS estimates, this large contract gives additional visibility to our financial projections for 2002 and 2003." The stock closed Monday at $13.51, down 5.5 percent.<<
