Could someone tell me what the advantage to stock holders for the buy back program of 550 million? Seems to me that what we get is fixed by HP shares (.6275). Buying back will just mean that HP will have fewer shares to exchange, thus benefiting HP. Since Compaq is under a buy out, I do not see the Compaq investors gaining from the company buy back of shares at this time.

What would happen if they used that money to pay out a .30 per share dividend? Easily stock holders have lost 25 B in Compaq this year. Am I correct? I guess I am beating a dead horse.
