AMD is aced-out of the new mil-spec growth areas

"OT-almost..
Anyone know if AMD could to take advantage of defense contractors?"

No, it is very, very much _on-topic_.

Intel will be the primary beneficiary of the expected surge in aerospace and military spending. Intel has extensive mil-spec programs, and its Xeon servers are heavily used. (AMD _used_ to have a good mil-spec business with the 2900 and then the 29000, but they dropped the 29K to chase the PC market. Too bad...)

Most of the fault-tolerant/continuously-up machines are made by companies like IBM/Sequent, HP/Compaq/Tandem, and so on. These are exactly the companies which have signed-on heavily for the Itanium. And they are already major users of all of Intel's processors.

But I hear the Athlon is pretty good for games!
