This sentence caught my eye.

"The Islamic fundamentalist movement is a potent force throughout the Arab world and it would not take much to turn states like Egypt, Jordan, Syria and even Saudi Arabia into new repressive, theocratic regimes."

I don't think this is wild speculation at all, we could wake up tomorrow and discover one or more of these countries has gone the way of Iran.
