The spending slowdown is natural. It is happening. It is also temporary.

But......if we get another attack, which I worry we will at some point, then it tells us that this is not a one-time horrible event but one of a sequence of tragedies designed to cause us harm and destroy our way of life. And if that mindset starts to set in, then the economic damage may take decades to repair. If we don't get another significant attack, I think people will calm down and begin to spend and travel by late in the year. Christmastime, perhaps, as people seek to forget their troubles, when they desperately want to feel good.

We are already talking about our annual yearend trip, which the past two years has been to LA. I told my wife we could always drive out there......but I don't think she wants to be in a car with me for six days roundtrip. <g>
