It was a lowball order, now the bid. We'll see if I get them. I'm computing the amount of truffles you'll owe me. Let's call it an even two dozen.

I think I will do my part for airlines by taking a few long-delayed frivolous trips: friends in NY, my sister for her birthday, hot springs in Japan.

An old friend of mine is watching his business collapse as a result of this mess. He provides logistical and translation support to Japanese film & commercial producers. Cancellations have wiped clean an ordinarily hectic fall schedule. At this time of year, it is not unusual for him to be in London at the beginning of the week, New England mid-week and some place like Yellowstone at week's end.

We have talked about doing a tour of out-of-the-way traditional Japanese hot springs inns for years, but never found the right time. I guess we have time now, if the dollar doesn't collapse (these places aren't cheap even at current exchange rates) and travel restrictions not imposed.
