The problem with your world view is that, while the cross and the flag were roughly congruent for the first 150 years of our country, a very successful program to sever those ties has been taking place for that past 50.

Thanks for the reference Charlie. I'm on a history "kick" lately as far as reading material. I've never studied the Crusades much and I think I will make it a point to read that volume...
