" There doesn't seem to be any substantive difference in freedoms throughout
the western world. And I've been unable to get anyone to be able to point them out".

France is one example. The French are issued identity cards which they are suppose to carry with
them at all times and the French are often stopped by police and asked to produce those cards,.
according to a radio report we heard on our recent mini-vacation to Vancouver, BC, Canada.
The French police do not need a serious reason to stop people.

In the US we have taken our open life style for granted and this may change because of the recent terrorists attacks. I often travel about the city without any ID at all. The only ID I carry is my bus pass and maybe a credit card or maybe only a few dollars. And, the city police, have never stopped and asked me for
an ID. We have been very lucky to have enjoyed the freedom that we have had for so very long.- Mephisto

"I saw a post earlier today on Canada. The brilliant dude stated it was true that the US has had more freedoms than Canada [without explanation] and that Canada was going bankrupt with socialized medicine. I imagine the readers of that thread agreed with that particular post since it was unchallenged. Frankly, I can't think of any freedoms that the US has that Canada doesn't. ..but lets take a quick look at health care."

I lived in Canada for 15 years and I can tell you that if you want to see a specialist you may have to wait
for weeks and you may need to be referred to a specialist by a GP.

In the last three weeks, a woman from Victoria, BC, had to come to Seattle to deliver her twins or maybe
they were triplets. There weren't any hospital beds in Victoria for her to go to . Although the
Canadian government sent her here, her husband couldn't afford to come along with her. Fortunately,
a pilot or a relative of a pilot sent her husband a free round trip ticket to Seattle so that he could attend
the birth.

I have heard of many instances recently where Canadians have been sent to the United States for health care.

Once again you show your ignorance, brilliant dude.

. Frankly, I can't think of any freedoms that the US has that Canada doesn't.

Canadians don't have a constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. We do, no thanks to you.

Canada is a fine country. Maybe you can help by enumerating some of its unique contributions to the world's intellect and wealth.
