What if this is true, lifted from DavesM post: Removing the Taliban will probably require U.S. troops on the ground. Maybe hundreds of thousands. I get the impression from your answer neither you nor your son wants him to fight. And that's perfectly understandable. Who then will join the ground forces in Afghanistan, purple headed, tattoed, pierced nosed, rapping anorexics? I remember the Vietnam war days, people said the war was great, totally necessary, as long as their sons didn't have to participate.
