Dave, I can't talk much about it, but there has been very little selling at our branch. And most of those were stop losses from GTC orders. There doesn't seem to be any panic. Well, except by the brokers. <G>

Perhaps this, from Tero Kuittenen of TheStreet.com, answers your question about who was buying and who was selling:

"The business television was crammed with people advising investors not to sell yesterday. Apparently there wasn’t a single professional on earth even contemplating selling. At the end of the day, they showed this guy saying how “heart-warming” it is that private investors kept buying against institutional selling. So professionals were advising not to sell while institutions they were representing were bailing. I can think of several words to describe this situation. “Heart-warming” is not one of them."

It's fun and infuriating thinking of what words DO describe the situation. /BSG
