I should think that the military is working hard at the minute to get all their equipment fixed up and ready for war. They are probably going through spare parts like crazy.

I'm not sure what kind of war this is going to be. All of Bush's options look to be bad. I wouldn't be surprised if the response is condemned as soft.

If all we do it strike out with our military and then proclaim victory, we will have gained nothing but greater risk of future terrorist threats.

Like terrorist attacks, a nuclear strike from Russia or China cannot be prevented. However, for the past few decades it has been successfully deterred by the threat of a massive US counterstrike. I think that deterrence might work for terrorism too, so I rather hope that we do strike out with our military in a rather forceful way. They already hate us anyway. It is time to make them fear us.
