You say "can shift A big part to renewables." This engineer would love to see any data you have that shows how and what you are taking about.

To me such statements are only made by technology challenged individual who don't have a clue about the costs and tradeoffs of creating cheap 24x7 fault tolerant power where it is needed and whenever it is needed.

Have your thought about the billions of tons of heavy metals for the batteries. Do you understand the cost of 1/3 at extreme best recovery every time you convert energy from one form to another. If you can get 1/3 stored and 1/3 restored you have 1/9 to use. Oh you have to transport it to where it's needed.
