It would have ended soon enough whether the WTC event had occurred or not.

Thats kind of what I was thinking: Surely the airline problems were evident before Sept 11.

I bought some Bombardier (BBD.b-TSE) on Friday. It seemed like it was on sale. They make other things besides airplanes.

Is anyone else buying?

The airlines were in a big mess before the WTC disaster. The business fare ripoff that went on for decades was already unraveling, and that was the lion's share of airline profits. Goofily, they caved in to radical union demands for monstrous pay hikes. Lost in all the press these days was last Thursday's announcement that the AA union voted overwhelmingly to approve a contract for 24% pay hikes. Talk about mercenary!

Whoever would have thought that the "surplus" (define it any way you want) would go to bail out the airlines?
