That's not true. Else the Republic would have been constituted differently. Much of the course of US history would have been changed.

For instance it would have President Tilden and not Hayes. Andrew Johnson would have been impeached. Clinton would not. This issue of representing, voting ones conscience, is fundamental to the Republic.

Ironic isn't it that you would make this argument about representing the voters desires but were more than happy to have George Bush assume the office by the means that he did.

I'll just bet you see no parallel. It depends on who's ox is "gored" is what I think you are "representing".
